Our commitment to sustainability in the environmental, social, and corporate governance dimensions has an impact on ourselves and our stakeholders. We are also involved outside our direct sphere of influence in various organisations and committees that have actively adopted the topic of sustainability as their own.
German Chemical Industry Association (VCI)
With its 22 trade associations, the German Chemical Industry Association ( VCI ) represents the interests of its approximately 1,900 members vis-à-vis politicians, authorities, other branches of industry, science and the media.
Fairness, openness, transparency, integrity and the guidelines of Chemie³, the sustainability initiative of the German chemical industry, determine the actions of the VCI.
HOBUM is a member of the
- Sustainability Network of the VCI North
The network meets four times a year to exchange experiences on the topic of sustainability, particularly in the chemical SME sector in northern Germany. The resulting synergies help the participating companies to promote sustainability beyond the association's borders.

Responsible Care
As part of the Chemie3 sustainability initiative, Responsible Care is an approach with which companies assume responsibility for the environment and safety. Responsible Care also offers an auditing tool with which companies can measure and evaluate the Sustainable Development Goals to which they are committed.
Association of the Oilseed Processing Industry in Germany OVID
As a member of the German oilseed processing industry association OVID, we are committed to the association's positions on ethical principles and transparent processes as well as the protection of the environment and health.

EcoVadis silver medal
HOBUM was awarded the EcoVadis Silver Medal in 2024. It is awarded to companies for their advanced performance in the field of sustainability.
EcoVadis is an independent assessment platform that evaluates companies. The criteria include environment, labor & human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.
The silver medal is awarded to the top 15% of companies in Germany assessed by EcoVadis. HOBUM is in the 92nd percentile in 2024.
UN Global Compact
HOBUM has joined the UN Global Compact, which pursues the vision of a more inclusive and sustainable economy based on ten universal principles and the Sustainable Development Goals. It should benefit all people, communities and markets, today and in the future. With this commitment to sustainability, we share responsibility for a better world.
